Islamic Spiritual Health Group
Objectives:
According to the Constitution of the Academy of Medical Sciences, surveillance, guidance, advisory functions, theory development, foresight, and monitoring of the dimensions of health, including spiritual health, fall within the remit of the Academy. The Spiritual Health Group operates to fulfill these Academy objectives.
Duties:
Pursuant to the duties set forth in the Constitution of the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Spiritual Health Group shall cooperate to strengthen and promote spiritual health, propose practical recommendations, and carry out macro-level monitoring and assessment of the country’s spiritual health status. The following specific objectives have been established to accomplish these duties:
1. To define, elucidate, and determine the concepts, components, and indicators of spiritual health.
2. To devise strategies for integrating spiritual health into policy-making and planning for health care, clinical services, and medical education (across both medical and non-medical domains), and to employ these strategies to promote population health.
3. To clarify the scope and mechanisms for incorporating spiritual health into educational programs of medical sciences.
4. To identify and define the essential research priorities on spiritual health within the country.
5. To conduct macro-level monitoring and evaluation of the country’s spiritual health situation.
