Wisdom, Traditional Medicine, and Medicine in the Islamic and Iranian Civilization Era Group
Vision:
Institutionalization of religious wisdom and knowledge within the country's medical education system and medical community, as well as the provision of healthcare services.
Scientifically and logically institutionalizing Iranian traditional medicine, based on evidence, within the national health system.
General Duties:
Providing consultation, theorizing, foresight, and expanding the frontiers of knowledge in all fields of wisdom, Islamic medicine, and traditional medicine.
Offering practical, preventive, and service-oriented recommendations to promote and expand various branches of wisdom, Islamic medicine, and traditional medicine.
Monitoring, observing, and overseeing the promotion of various disciplines of Islamic and traditional medicine, and preventing deviation, misrepresentation, and exaggeration in presenting the various domains of Islamic and Iranian traditional medicine.
Establishing scientific and technical relations in the fields of wisdom, Islamic medicine, and traditional medicine with other countries, particularly Islamic nations, and expanding such relations.
Specific Duties:
Safeguarding and preserving the achievements of Islamic and Iranian culture and civilization in the fields of wisdom, Islamic medicine, and traditional medicine.
Drafting a governance document on wisdom and religious literacy within the medical education system and the country’s medical community.
Continuous and dynamic interaction and exchange of views with relevant authorities, particularly the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education.
Assessing the current status of education, research, and services in Iranian traditional medicine, and submitting proposals to relevant authorities for the improvement and promotion of traditional medicine by utilizing successful experiences from other countries and the latest scientific findings on Iranian traditional medicine, as well as presenting a critique of ongoing policies and programs.
Defining research priorities in the fields of wisdom, Islamic medicine, and traditional medicine.
Collaboration and consultation with universities, research institutions, and religious seminaries to present various achievements in the field of Islamic and Iranian traditional medicine.
Forming three specialized subgroups:
a) Group on Wisdom and Religious Knowledge in Medicine
b) Group on the History of Medicine
c) Group on Medicinal Plants
Compiling an encyclopedia of the history of Islamic and Iranian medicine.
Disseminating information and findings in the fields of wisdom, Islamic medicine, and Iranian traditional medicine through:
a) Traditional Medicine Journal
b) Wisdom in Medicine Journal
c) Allocating a section of the Academy’s website to topics related to the group
d) Editing, annotating, and translating texts
e) Publishing books and articles
f) Organizing related conferences and seminars
Supporting the publication of books, theses, and research projects in the field of wisdom, Islamic medicine, and Iranian traditional medicine.
Selecting, honoring, awarding, and granting scientific medals to professors, students, researchers, research centers, institutions, and publishers who have made outstanding contributions in the field of wisdom, Islamic medicine, and Iranian traditional medicine.
Supporting the organization of conferences on wisdom, Islamic medicine, and traditional medicine aimed at enhancing their quality and impact.
