Scientific Group of Quran, Ahl al-Bayt, and Health

Regulations

Article 1: Preamble

Promoting and deepening the rich culture of the Holy Qur’an and the life-giving school of the Ahl al-Bayt peace be upon them (PBUT), and with the aim of qualitatively and quantitatively enhancing and institutionalizing Qur’an’s, and Ahl al-Bayt’s, rich knowledge heritage that immencely affect health-related activities among members of the medical community and health sector activists of the country, the Qur’an, Ahl al-Bayt, and Health Group of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been established based on the proposal of the Academy’s General Assembly and by order of his excellene the President of the Academy.

Article 2: Duties

1-2. Utilizing Qur’anic concepts and the tradition and conduct of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) in promoting the health of society.

2-2. Identifying and introducing active contributors and distinguished figures of the medical community in the field of the Qur’an and the culture of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) at the national and international levels, and granting an annual award to the selected individuals.

3-2. Laying groundwork for the use of the capacities and capabilities of the medical health community in promoting a culture of intimacy with the Holy Qur’an and the conduct of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) among members of the medical health community.

4-2. Laying groundwork for the presence of the Holy Qur’an and the conduct of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) among learners, including students, residents, subspecialty fellows, professors, faculty members, and other members of the medical community, as well as within healthcare centers.

5-2. Providing advisory and expert opinions to managers, organizations, and various institutions, as well as pursuant to clause (11-2).

 

6-2. Liaison, engagement, and cooperation with professional scientific societies in the medical and paramedical fields.

7-2. Laying groundwork for the development of research on health related aspects of leachings  the holy Qur’an, the Ahl al-Bayt, in the field of medical sciences.

8-2. Organizing national and international conferences and congresses on the Qur’an, the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT), and health, as well as participating in various specialized scientific congresses in the same fields.

9-2. Engaging in virtual platforms and media.

10-2. Reviewing and laying groundwork for the ratification of necessary legislation to ensure the presence of the Qur’an, the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT), and health within the medical community.

11-2. Following up and implementing related tasks and activities assigned by the Academy, as well as cooperating with other legal bodies and institutions.

Article 3: Policy and Planning Council

For the purpose of policy and macro-level planning of the activities of the Qur’an, Ahl al-Bayt, and Health Group of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the country, the Policy and Planning Council of the Qur’an, Ahl al-Bayt, and Health Group shall be established with the participation of experts and active contributors in the field of the Qur’an, the Ahl al-Bayt, and health, who shall be appointed by the President of the Academy.

At the time of establishment of the Qur’an, Ahl al-Bayt, and Health Group, the members of the Policy Council are: Dr. Seyed Alireza Marandi, Dr. Fereydoun Azizi, Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, Dr. Nasser Simforoush, Dr. Mohammad Reza Kalantar Motamedi, Dr. Esfahani, Dr. Abolghasemi, Dr. Hossein Karami, Dr. Ghasem Raziei, and Dr. Razaghi.

Article 4: Structure of the Group

4-1. The head of the group shall be appointed by the President of the Academy for a term of four years.

4-2. Members of the group shall be selected from among Qur’an-active and elite members of the country’s medical community, proposed by the head of the group and approved by the President of the Academy.

4-3. The secretary of the group shall be elected from among its members by majority vote for a term of two years.

Note 1: Depending on the agenda of the group’s meetings, and when necessary, relevant managers and experts may be invited upon the decision of the group members.

Note 2: Appointments of the Policy Council members and group members shall be issued by the President of the Academy for a term of two years.

Note 3: The secretariat of the group shall be located within the Academy of Medical Sciences, under the Scientific Deputy.

Note 4: The group may form executive and expert committees as needed, subject to the group’s approval.

Article 5: Meetings

5-1. The Policy Council shall convene once every three months. The timing, changes, and extraordinary meetings shall be determined by mutual agreement of the members.

5-2. The working group meetings shall be held once every two weeks. The timing, changes, and extraordinary meetings shall be determined by mutual agreement of the members.

5-3. Meetings shall be held with the presence of at least two-thirds of the members, and discussions shall be approved upon securing the majority of votes.

These regulations, comprising five articles and four notes, were drafted and approved on 24 September 2012.
